Nigerian military neutralizes ISWAP fighters in Borno and Adamawa

The Nigerian military has conducted several successful operations against insurgent groups in the North-East. In Borno State, an airstrike by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai on October 10 targeted an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) enclave in Badu Village, Guzamala Local Government Area. The precision strike killed more than 40 fighters, including a prominent ISWAP commander known as a Qaid. The operation, which followed intelligence regarding planned attacks on military formations, also destroyed two vehicles and approximately 20 motorcycles.

In a separate engagement in Adamawa State, troops from Operation Hadin Kai repelled an attack on a Forward Operating Base in Garaha, Hong Local Government Area. During the encounter, security forces reportedly neutralized four ISWAP terrorists and recovered various weapons, including a machine gun and several AK-47 rifles. The clash resulted in injuries to five soldiers. Another report from Adamawa indicated that over 10 suspected Boko Haram insurgents were neutralized during an operation in the same region, though the incident reportedly resulted in the deaths of two soldiers.

Additionally, in Sokoto State, troops neutralized a suspected Lakurawa militant in Soruro Village following a distress call regarding armed men in the community.
