Nigerian troops neutralize terrorists and seize ammunition in Zamfara and Kaduna

Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, conducted successful military operations in Zamfara and Kaduna states on September 2, 2026, to disrupt terrorist networks.

In Zamfara State, troops from Sector 2 ambushed terrorists moving through the Shinkafi and Zurmi local government areas. The engagement resulted in several terrorists being neutralized, while others fled. Following the ambush, military personnel recovered an AK-47 rifle, a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher, an RPG bomb, 106 rounds of ammunition, six magazines, and a motorcycle.

In Kaduna State, troops from Sector 1 intercepted a vehicle at a checkpoint on the Saulawa-Zaria Road. During a search, a passenger attempted to flee and was neutralized by troops. A subsequent inspection of the suspect's bag revealed 793 rounds of ammunition concealed inside gari. The driver and the vehicle have been taken into military custody for investigation.
