Saratu Jibo found safe in Doha hospital after disappearance
Saratu Jibo, a 37-year-old Nigerian woman, has been found safe in a hospital in Doha, Qatar, following a period of uncertainty after her disappearance. Jibo had traveled from Lagos via Qatar Airways flight QR1408 and lost contact with her family shortly after landing.
Her brother, Jonathan Jibo, initially raised the alarm on social media, noting that she had no friends in Qatar and had been unable to meet her designated airport pick-up person. While CCTV footage confirmed she had successfully collected her luggage and exited the airport terminal, her whereabouts remained unknown for several days.
Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), later clarified that Jibo’s mobile phone and international passport had been held by customs officials for clarification purposes, which contributed to the communication gap. Her family confirmed she was located in a hospital after falling ill following her arrival.
