Nigeria's African Democratic Congress decries politicised actions in state and national disputes

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago said he will not investigate his predecessor, former Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, even though he claims to possess files on alleged misconduct. Speaking after a communal clash that left more than 40 dead, Bago stressed his priority is peace and refused any political retaliation, stating, “I have all their files… I will not probe ex‑governor Bello.”

In Kebbi State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alleged that the prosecution of former Attorney‑General and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami is politically motivated. The party said the investigation, arrest, detention and property searches are part of a “Gestapo method” used by the ruling APC to weaken opposition ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting the case is designed to achieve a predetermined goal.
