Nigeria's APC faces internal unrest in Ondo and Oyo states

President Bola Tinubu expressed anger after videos showed the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Seun Osamaye, and the APC State Women Leader, Iji‑Ayeola, leading protests against the president and the party’s National Working Committee. The presidency has ordered security agencies to probe the organizers, saying the protest betrayed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s support. Idowu Ajanaku, Ondo’s Commissioner for Information, denied the allegations, stating, “The Commissioner for Women Affairs did not say anything against the party.” Sources noted, “Did you notice that Ondo was the only state where such a protest took place?”

Meanwhile, the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress announced a reconciliation committee to address grievances from recent primaries. Party Publicity Secretary Wasiu Sadare said the committee, comprising senior party figures, will meet aggrieved aspirants and “bring about the desired peace and unity for our great party to win big at the polls next year.” The move aims to calm internal tensions as the party prepares for upcoming elections.
