Nigeria's APC grapples with candidate dispute in Kwara and rallies in Osun

In Kwara State, a group of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders rejected the reported nomination of Florence Oyeyemi, an Ijebu woman from Ogun State, as the party’s House of Representatives candidate for the 2027 elections. The group, led by coordinator Bayode Dada, argued that the ticket should go to a bona‑fide indigene of the Ekiti bloc, warning that the move could create disaffection within the party. Dada said, "All we need now is Ekiti for Ekiti and not an Ijebu woman from Ogun State to take our slot."

Meanwhile, in Osun State, former Minister of Police Affairs Alhaji Abdul‑Jelili Adesiyan and former Accord Party governorship candidate Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi rallied support for APC governorship hopeful Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji ahead of the August 15 election. Adesiyan described Oyebamiji as the most qualified candidate, stating, "We are taking our party, the APC, to the next level through Ambo because things have not gone well in Osun under the present administration." The rally attracted thousands of supporters and called for peaceful voting.
