Nigeria's APC Organises Committees in Edo and Ondo to Strengthen Party Unity

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has created a high‑powered lobbying committee, chaired by a former Edo North senator, to persuade Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State to re‑join the party. Party sources say the group is mandated to bring the governor back after his defection weakened the APC’s presence in the South‑South region, where all six states are currently held by the Peoples Democratic Party.

In Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa convened the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and other APC leaders, unanimously reaffirming his position as the party’s state head and pledging support for President Bola Tinubu’s re‑election bid in the 2027 general election. The council stressed unity, reconciliation and the need to improve on the state’s strong performance in the 2023 presidential vote.
