Nigeria's Atiku Abubakar praises court ruling, calls for probe into IMF‑cited missing 2% GDP

Former vice‑president and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar praised the Federal High Court in Abuja for dismissing a lawsuit challenging the ADC’s leadership. He said the judgment affirmed constitutional democracy and confirmed that internal party disputes are governed by party constitutions, not the judiciary.

Atiku also demanded an independent investigation after the International Monetary Fund reported that Nigeria omitted public spending equivalent to two percent of its gross domestic product from recent budget documents. He described the omission as evidence of institutional corruption, highlighted the contrast between the Federal Ministry of Health’s tiny budget release and a controversial agency allegedly receiving billions, and urged the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to explain the agency’s official recognition.
