Nigeria's Chief Justice swears in 68 new Senior Advocates

Chief Justice of Nigeria Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has sworn in 68 legal practitioners as Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) during the 2026/2027 Legal Year ceremony held on Monday.

The elevation was previously approved by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee during its 174th plenary session in Abuja this past July. The group of new SANs consists of 67 advocates and one academic, Professor Nnamdi Onyeka Obiaraeri. The rank is a prestigious distinction within the Nigerian legal profession, awarded to those meeting specific standards of professional excellence and scholarship.
