Nigeria's Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila Urged to Resign Over PFIPC Scandal

Social Democratic Party National Chairman Prof. Sadiq Gombe called on President Bola Tinubu’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to resign from both his chief‑of‑staff role and his chairmanship of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Gombe said an independent investigation is needed and argued that a public officer facing “allegations of this magnitude” should “lie low”. He also criticised Gbajabiamila’s appointment to head the committee on state police, noting the committee’s regional imbalance.

SDP Lagos governorship candidate Femi Olaniyi echoed the concerns, describing the PFIPC issue as “disappointing” and accusing the Tinubu administration of losing focus. Olaniyi urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections. The controversy has sparked wider debate, with opposition figures and civil‑society groups demanding transparency and accountability.
