Nigeria's Code of Conduct Bureau probes former officials over offshore assets
Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has launched investigations into seven former public officials regarding alleged undeclared offshore assets and business interests. The probe follows information linked to the international Panama Papers and Pandora Papers investigations.
Among those under investigation are former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, and former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki and David Mark. Other individuals named include former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah, former Bayelsa State Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, former Delta State Governor James Ibori, and retired Delta State judicial officer Stella Ogene.
Case officers have been assigned to examine whether these individuals complied with national laws concerning asset declaration, restrictions on private business interests while in office, and regulations governing foreign bank accounts. The CCB has indicated that its inquiries may extend to other Nigerian citizens identified in the global journalistic reports.
