Nigeria's DSS and Army seize rocket launcher, AK‑47s in Enugu raids on ESN armoury

The Department of State Services (DSS) and troops of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army jointly conducted raids on suspected Eastern Security Network (ESN) armouries in the Garki and Agbani areas of Enugu State. Acting on intelligence about planned attacks on security checkpoints, kidnappings of women, children and WAEC students, the forces recovered a rocket launcher, two RPG warheads, multiple RPG chargers, eight to eleven AK‑47 rifles, dozens of magazines, over 1,000 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, handheld grenades, a teargas gun with canisters, a smoke‑grenade launcher and NYSC uniforms, trousers, T‑shirts and lanyards. Two ESN field commanders were arrested, and the operation followed recent DSS arrests of suspected arms couriers linked to a school kidnapping in Niger State. The raids aimed to disrupt the ESN’s logistics and prevent further terror in Nigeria’s southeast region.
