Nigeria's DSS undergoes reform under Adeola Ajayi
Since assuming office as Director-General of Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) in August 2024, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi has initiated a series of institutional reforms. As a career intelligence officer with decades of experience within the service, Ajayi is focusing on transitioning the agency toward a model based on professionalism and legality rather than fear.
His reform agenda is centered on five principal areas: law enforcement, inter-agency cooperation, institutional accountability, respect for human rights, and infrastructural and administrative reforms. These measures aim to improve operational efficiency and strengthen public trust in the domestic intelligence institution.
