D’Tigress defeat China to conclude preparation tour

Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, concluded their tour of China with an 88-77 victory over the host nation in Foshan. The win serves as a significant confidence boost for the reigning African champions as they prepare for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin.

Elizabeth Balogun led the scoring for Nigeria with 26 points, supported by 19 points from Grace Efosa. The victory allowed the team to end the three-game series on a high note after losing the previous two encounters to China.

Following the China assignment, the team will travel to Tenerife, Spain, for a triangular tournament involving Spain and Belgium. This phase of their preparation is intended to refine team chemistry and defensive organization before the World Cup begins in September.
