Nigeria's FCCPC seals Abuja real estate offices over fraud and non‑compliance

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) sealed two properties belonging to private estate developers in Abuja after they failed to deliver properties that customers had fully paid for. The buildings, located in Life Camp Extension and Wuse II, were ordered shut by Deputy Director of Surveillance and Investigations Marvin Nadah because the developers ignored FCCPC notices issued since June 2025.

Consumers had lodged complaints that they paid for homes but received none, with some payments made over three years earlier. The FCCPC acted under the FCCPC Act 2018 (sections 150 and 154), directing the developers to provide redress or face enforcement. Nadah warned the public to verify developers’ claims and urged reporting of any unfair practices, saying the agency will continue monitoring the real‑estate sector to protect Nigerians from exploitation.
