Nigeria's FCT Minister Nyesom Wike rebuked by Lagos PDP over Bode George property allegations

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike alleged that former PDP deputy national chairman Chief Olabode George acquired his Maitama, Abuja residence with proceeds of corruption. In response, the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, loyal to Kabiru Turaki, issued a statement refuting the claim and citing the Supreme Court ruling that cleared George of any wrongdoing.

The party called Wike’s remarks “baseless, reckless and ignorant,” describing them as an abuse of office and urging him to focus on his ministerial duties rather than “intimidate citizens or weaponise state power against private individuals.”

The Lagos PDP statement warned that any attempt to drag a cleared man through the mud shows “a thoroughly confused fellow who only respects the judiciary when rulings favour his selfish political survival.”
