Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu urges voluntary blood donation on World Blood Donor Day
On World Blood Donor Day 2026 (June 14), Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, praised donors as “heroes of life” and called on Nigerians, especially young people, to adopt a habit of regular voluntary blood donation. She said a reliable blood supply is essential for a resilient health system and urged citizens to ensure safe blood is always available.
Anambra State Governor’s wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, also marked the day, describing blood donation as a simple act of compassion that strengthens healthcare and saves multiple lives. Both officials highlighted the theme of the day – “Honoring the Heroes of Life” – and encouraged the public to contribute regularly to improve national health outcomes.
