Nigeria's First Lady Oluremi Tinubu launches APC women's grassroots platform

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria's First Lady, inaugurated the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a grassroots mobilisation platform within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The initiative is designed to advance the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, boost women's participation in governance and deepen support for President Bola Tinubu’s policies across the country's 774 local government areas.

At the ceremony Tinubu announced the provision of vehicles to APC women leaders in states where the party is not in power, including Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun and Oyo, to aid their grassroots activities. She also presented eight buses to women leaders from various regions. Emphasising the importance of numbers over gender, she urged party women to maintain close contact with voters, increase voter education, and build lasting trust ahead of upcoming elections, citing her own experience of holding quarterly town‑hall meetings while a senator.

The launch underscores the APC’s strategy to use its women's wing as a key mobilisation tool for future electoral contests.
