Nigeria's FRSC Deploys Rescue Operations and State Patrols to Improve Road Safety

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) announced that rescue teams are managing the aftermath of two serious crashes on the Lagos‑Ibadan Expressway at Kara Bridge on the early hours of 24 July 2026. The first incident involved five articulated trucks and a Toyota Sienna, resulting in one fatality, one serious injury and several uninjured occupants. A second crash later that night involved a commercial bus whose brake failure left the driver seriously injured. FRSC officials urged motorists to use alternative routes such as the Ikorodu‑Sagamu corridor and the Lekki‑Epe expressway while recovery work continues.

Separately, the FRSC Osun State command carried out a three‑day “Operation Sanity” special intervention patrol from 20‑22 July 2026. The operation targeted overloading, route violations and excessive speeding through intensified enforcement, public enlightenment campaigns and stakeholder engagement. Sector commanders called on motorists, transport operators and other road users to comply with traffic rules and cooperate with FRSC personnel throughout the exercise.
