Nigeria's full‑stack food‑tech model faces crisis as GoLemon shuts down

Lagos‑based grocery‑delivery startup GoLemon, founded by former Paystack staff, announced it will stop taking new orders and fully wind down customer‑support operations on August 2 after failing to raise a new round of funding. The closure follows the March operational pause of cloud‑kitchen startup FoodCourt, which halted kitchens in Lagos and Abuja amid unpaid salaries and mounting debt.

Both companies pursued a “full‑stack” approach, owning farms or suppliers, warehouses, technology platforms and delivery fleets. While GoLemon claimed individual orders were profitable, its fixed‑cost structure could not be sustained amid rising inflation, high diesel prices and weakened household budgets.
