Nigeria's High Commissioner arrives in South Africa to rebuild ties

Femi Fani-Kayode, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, has arrived in Johannesburg to begin a diplomatic mission aimed at strengthening bilateral relations. Appointed by President Bola Tinubu, Fani-Kayode intends to “rebuild the bridge of friendship and cooperation between Nigeria and South Africa” while protecting the interests of Nigerians residing in the country.

As the largest economies in Africa, both nations are expected to collaborate on economic and cultural partnerships to promote regional stability and African unity. Fani-Kayode, who is also concurrently accredited to Lesotho and Eswatini, plans to engage South African authorities to address ongoing challenges affecting relations between the two populations and to promote peaceful coexistence.
