Nigeria's Human Rights Commission flags gaps in 2024‑27 strategic plan

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of Nigeria launched a mid‑term review of its 2024‑2027 Strategic Plan in Abuja, acknowledging progress in expanding human‑rights protection but pointing to implementation gaps, weak monitoring systems and limited institutional capacity.

Executive Secretary Tony Ojukwu (SAN) described the review as a turning point and urged stronger stakeholder partnership. He called on government agencies, development partners, civil‑society groups and the diplomatic community to help strengthen implementation mechanisms, improve monitoring and reporting, build capacity and use resources more efficiently for the remaining two years of the plan. The review report was presented by Director of Planning Halima Oyedele.
