Nigeria’s ICPC and China’s Xinhua explore media partnership

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) of Nigeria and China’s state-owned Xinhua News Agency are discussing a strategic media partnership to enhance international anti-corruption efforts.

A delegation from Xinhua, led by Deputy President for Africa Gui Tao, met with ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu in Abuja to discuss news sharing and information exchange. The collaboration aims to increase the global visibility of Nigeria’s anti-corruption initiatives and address the transnational nature of corruption, specifically regarding illicit financial flows and the movement of criminal proceeds.

Dr. Aliyu requested support from Xinhua in the form of technology transfer and professional training for the ICPC’s Media and Public Communication Unit to improve news dissemination. Gui Tao emphasized the necessity of accurate reporting to foster international cooperation and expressed readiness to help project the commission’s activities to a global audience.
