Nigeria's INEC launches online portal for voter registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has introduced a self‑service online portal that allows eligible Nigerians to register for a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), update personal details, transfer voting locations and request replacements for lost or damaged cards. The platform supports the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and lets users complete the entire process, including biometric capture, from a smartphone.

The portal guides applicants through account creation, NIN verification, biodata entry, polling‑unit selection, document upload and biometric capture via the INEC mobile app. It also offers a pre‑registration option for those without a NIN or who prefer in‑person biometric capture, reducing waiting time at registration centres. INEC extended the CVR deadline from July 10 to July 24, 2026, to enable more citizens to register ahead of future elections.
