Nigeria's Iyalode Sade Ogunbiyi Marks 80th Birthday with President Tinubu’s Praise

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu publicly congratulated Chief Sade Ogunbiyi, the Iyalode of Remoland, on her 80th birthday on 6 June 2026. In a statement, the president highlighted her lifelong service, discipline and notable contributions to education and human development, noting her balance of family devotion and professional achievement.

Chief Ogunbiyi’s career spans teaching English and Social Studies in Ogun State, a stint at Lane Middle School in Bedford, New York, and work at the United Nations International School in New York. She later served a decade as Chief Personnel and Administrative Officer at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). In the banking sector, she was Senior Manager and later Human‑Resources Manager at NAL Merchant Bank, before retiring in 1996. She then held the position of Deputy Managing Director at Signal Health Nigeria Ltd, a pharmaceutical firm, from 1996 to 2001, and later engaged in wine‑merchant activities and professional associations.

The birthday celebration included a gathering at the staff quarters of her husband, academic Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi, featuring music, fine food and drinks, and attendance by journalists and colleagues, underscoring her respected status in both academic and social circles.
