Nigeria's Meteorological Agency issues three‑day thunderstorm warning

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) released a weather outlook for Wednesday through Friday, forecasting thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across most of the country. Strong winds are expected to precede the storms in several northern states, including Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba and Adamawa, as well as in the North‑Central region and the Federal Capital Territory. The outlook also calls for cloudiness and moderate rains in the southern zones, with light to moderate precipitation expected in parts of the South‑South, South‑East, Ondo, Ekiti and Oyo states.

NiMet advised residents to secure loose objects, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, and urged airline operators to obtain airport‑specific weather reports for flight planning. The agency highlighted the heightened risk of flooding, traffic disruptions, property damage and flight delays during the peak of Nigeria’s rainy season.
