Nigeria's National Security Adviser warns of potential isolated insurgent attacks

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has issued a security advisory urging Nigerians to remain vigilant due to evolving threats across the country. The warning follows sustained military operations in the North-East, North-West, and North-Central regions, which have resulted in notable successes against the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and other criminal groups.

Security agencies reported the neutralization of several terrorist and bandit commanders, including Abubakar Al-Mainok, also known as Abu Bilal Al-Minuki, and the disruption of various criminal strongholds and hideouts.

However, the ONSA warned that these setbacks might prompt insurgent groups to carry out isolated attacks intended to create fear and attract public attention. The advisory calls on citizens to report suspicious activities and urges state and local governments to strengthen community vigilance and improve information sharing with security agencies.
