Nigeria's NCC and NLNG support 2026 E-Waste Dialogue
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) have announced their institutional support for the 2026 ITREALMS E-Waste Dialogue. Organized by ITREALMS Media Group, the forum is scheduled for November 26, 2026, in Lagos.
The event theme, “The ‘Fast Tech’ Threat: Strengthening EPR and Recovery Systems for Nigeria’s Small Gadget Surge,” addresses the environmental and financial risks posed by low-quality, short-lived consumer electronics. These include substandard power banks, uncertified chargers, and wireless peripherals that quickly become hazardous waste.
Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, Convener of the dialogue, emphasized that the expansion of digital technologies must be accompanied by hardware lifecycle management and the enforcement of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks to ensure environmental safety and a circular economy.
