Nigeria's NIMASA and Gambia Maritime Administration deepen digitalisation cooperation
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) hosted a four‑day study visit by officials from the Gambia Maritime Administration (GMA). The delegation, led by Mr Falu Sey, examined NIMASA’s digital seafarer documentation and certification systems, aiming to strengthen regional cooperation and improve the credibility of seafarers’ medical certificates, examinations and proficiency certificates.
NIMASA’s Executive Director of Operations, Engr Fatai Taiye Adeyemi, said the engagement showcased Nigeria’s progress in maritime digital transformation, supported by the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy. Both agencies agreed to share technical knowledge and implement the lessons learned to enhance maritime administration and service delivery in the Gambia.
