Nigeria's NSCDC launches intelligence training, steps up attacks on infrastructure crime

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State opened a three‑day Professional Development Programme aimed at ethical intelligence sharing and operational collaboration among security agencies. The training, led by Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed and the Corps’ Intelligence and Investigation Department, covered intelligence gathering, analysis, investigative reporting, joint operations and human‑rights compliance to address threats such as terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, cybercrime, illegal mining and vandalism of critical national assets.

The Corps also highlighted recent intelligence‑led operations by its Special Intelligence Squad that dismantled a syndicate stealing electricity and telecommunications cables across the Federal Capital Territory and neighbouring states. The raids targeted not only thieves but also major buyers and companies involved in processing stolen materials, signalling a shift toward disrupting the market that fuels organized crime against Nigeria’s infrastructure.
