Nigeria's NSCDC rescues 24 from illegal Lagos detention camp, arrests four foreigners

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) carried out a raid in the Itoga area of Badagry, Lagos State, uncovering an illegal detention camp. Operatives rescued 24 victims – 18 men, six women and a toddler – who were nationals of Nigeria, Togo and Benin Republic. Four suspected members of a cross‑border criminal syndicate, identified as nationals of Togo, Benin and Ghana, were arrested.

The commandant, Adedotun Keshinro, said the operation was based on credible intelligence and community reports. Preliminary investigations indicated the suspects extorted relatives, forced victims into fraudulent activities and drug trade, and kept some missing for up to three years. The public was urged to help identify the rescued individuals. The arrested suspects will be prosecuted after investigations conclude. This follows a similar NSCDC operation in April that dismantled a baby‑factory in the same Badagry area.
