Nigeria's NYSC suspends 2026 orientation in Niger State for renovations
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) announced on its X account that the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation course for prospective corps members assigned to Niger State is suspended until further notice. The suspension is attributed to ongoing renovation work at the state orientation camp.
The camp in Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area, suffered extensive damage earlier in the year when a severe windstorm destroyed male hostels, the multi‑purpose hall, kitchen and staff quarters. Governor Mohammed Bago ordered immediate repairs. NYSC said affected participants will be contacted about new reporting arrangements and regretted the inconvenience to the corps members and their families. The orientation, which began on 10 June 2026 and was slated to run until 30 June, will be rescheduled once renovations are completed.
