Nigeria's oil sector sees Seplat profit surge and Shell leadership shift
Seplat Energy PLC reported its unaudited half‑year results for the six months to 30 June 2026, showing a 498 % jump in profit after tax to $164 million and a record dividend of $0.12 per share. Revenue rose to $1.82 billion and average production increased 4 % to 139,509 barrels of oil equivalent per day, keeping the company within its full‑year guidance.
Shell Nigeria marked the departure of Executive Vice President and Country Chair Marno de Jong after more than six years. In a farewell ceremony, senior officials praised his tenure, and the company announced that Elohor Aiboni will assume the role, becoming the first female leader of Shell’s businesses in Nigeria.
