Nigeria's PDP Announces Lagos and Kwara Governorship Candidates for 2027
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria unveiled its ticket for the 2027 governorship elections in two key states. In Lagos, the party named technocrat Khadijat Bello as the running mate of governorship candidate Adedeji Doherty and launched an Independent Campaign Council and a Lagos PDP Campaign Council to steer its campaign. Party officials highlighted the duo’s experience and pledged issue‑based, people‑oriented leadership.
In Kwara State, the PDP presented retired civil servant Bolakale Kawu as its governorship candidate, with Pastor Cornelius Fawenu of Oasis of Wisdom Bible Church as his running mate. The party emphasized competence, integrity and selfless service, and called for peaceful, issue‑focused campaigning across the state. Both announcements reflect the PDP’s broader strategy to contest the 2027 elections with renewed unity and a focus on security, economic growth, education and transparent governance.
