A faction of Nigeria's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike denied reports that it missed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for submitting its presidential and vice‑presidential candidates for the 2027 election. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, said the names were uploaded to INEC’s portal at 11:50 a.m. on 10 July 2026, fully complying with the commission’s requirements.

Separately, the PDP leadership is set to receive a report investigating why the party lost the 2019 presidential election. The inquiry, chaired by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, will be presented at the party’s national secretariat and is expected to inform decisions on the zoning of the 2023 presidential ticket.
