Nigeria's President Tinubu warned by ADC over El‑Rufai's health in ICPC custody
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) said President Bola Tinubu will be personally accountable if former Kaduna State governor Nasir El‑Rufai suffers any harm while detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi told Channels Television that El‑Rufai has a medical condition and was recently at the National Hospital, warning that “if you don’t let Malam Nasir El‑Rufai get the medical help he needed, then you are not helping him.”
ADC chieftain and retired broadcaster Mohammed Barde added that Tinubu and senior APC leaders are “very scared” of El‑Rufai, alleging his detention is politically motivated and that other opposition figures have not faced similar treatment. Barde claimed the former governor’s influence threatens the ruling party, prompting his continued prosecution.
