NSC Director‑General Bukola Olopade said the nation remains on track to claim seven to eight gold medals in athletics as the track and field programme begins, a view echoed by Athletics Federation of Nigeria President Tonobok Okowa, who also predicts seven golds. In basketball, Nigeria’s men’s 3×3 team edged Guyana 20‑19 in a group‑stage match, while boxer Khadijat Ajisola was eliminated from the women’s 54 kg event.
