Nigeria's Six Fintechs Lead Africa on CNBC 2026 World Rankings
Nigeria secured six spots on CNBC's 2026 World’s Top Fintech Companies list, accounting for more than half of the continent’s entries. The companies – Moniepoint, PalmPay, PiggyVest, Redtech, LemFi and Zone – were selected from an evaluation of over 3,500 firms worldwide based on revenue growth, user acquisition and technological scalability.
The ranking also featured five other African firms from Kenya, Egypt and South Africa, but Nigeria’s presence spans both consumer‑facing payment apps and infrastructure‑focused platforms, highlighting an ecosystem that is moving beyond simple payments to underpin broader financial services. PiggyVest made the list for the third consecutive year and is the sole African entrant in the wealth‑technology category alongside global names such as Robinhood and Wealthsimple.
