Nigeria's Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle signs new contract

Eric Chelle has agreed to a new contract to remain as head coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles. The deal, negotiated after a meeting between the National Sports Commission and the Nigeria Football Federation in Abuja, raises his monthly salary to about $100,000, up from $50,000, and places the responsibility for paying his assistants on the federation.

Former Super Eagles coach James Peters welcomed the extension, stressing the need for continuity and prudent financial management. Peters urged Chelle to keep expanding the player pool domestically and abroad and highlighted the coach’s immediate tasks of qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and securing a spot at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
