Nigeria's Tax Ombud and OGFZA partner to boost FDI
The Office of the Tax Ombud and the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) have entered into a collaboration to enhance investor confidence and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) into Nigeria’s oil and gas free zones.
Dr. John C. Nwabueze, Chief Executive of the Tax Ombud, stated that the partnership aims to improve the resolution of grievances related to taxes, levies, regulatory fees, and customs duties. By providing an independent channel for dispute resolution and clarifying tax incentives, the agencies intend to create a more transparent and predictable administrative environment.
This initiative is designed to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by promoting voluntary tax compliance and increasing Nigeria’s tax-to-GDP ratio. OGFZA Managing Director Usman Bamanga Jada noted that the government has already introduced various incentives and customs duty concessions to encourage sustainable investment inflows.
