Nigeria's Tourism Authority Launches Digital Platform and Seeks Engineering Regulator Guidelines
Director General Dr Olayiwola Awakan of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) outlined a strategy to boost tourism by leveraging film, music and digital storytelling. The NTDA is creating NITOUREY, a dedicated streaming platform that will showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage, landscapes and festivals, and is being developed with partners such as JM Misa Inc, Tourcliq Creatives and the National Information Technology Development Agency. Awakan said the platform will be unveiled by President Bola Tinubu and is intended to attract both domestic and international visitors.
Separately, the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) led by President Dr Aliyu Badaki visited the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) to study its regulatory model. FTAN hopes to adopt similar professional standards and clearer role definitions for tourism operators, trainers and regulators, aiming to improve service quality and public confidence in the sector. COREN officials expressed willingness to share experience and support the tourism reforms.
