Nigeria's Tourism Minister Hannatu Musawa Calls for Digital and Green Overhaul
Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, urged tourism operators to adopt digital transformation, sustainability and quality service delivery to stay competitive in the global market. Speaking at the opening of the ninth Nigeria Tourism Investors Forum and Exhibition (NTIFE 2026) and the 29th FTAN Annual General Meeting in Abuja, she highlighted the need for innovation, tourism corridors, modern visitor experiences and improved destination management. Musawa called for coordinated policy alignment, investment and leadership, linking the initiative to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which positions tourism and the creative economy as strategic pillars for diversification and job creation. FTAN President Dr Aliyu Ajayi Badaki also stressed the sector’s fragmented operations and the necessity of unified direction.
