Nigeria's VP Kashim Shettima urges Code of Conduct Bureau to stay apolitical and digitise asset declarations

Vice President Kashim Shettima met with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) delegation at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and urged the agency to remain apolitical and uphold strict independence while carrying out its constitutional duties. He praised the bureau’s ongoing reforms, especially the digitisation of asset and liability declarations, which allow public officers to file electronically and avoid physically thronging offices. Shettima said the digital system aligns Nigeria with global best practices, enhances transparency, and projects a positive international image.

CCB Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Vice President for appointing a new leadership team and increasing the bureau’s budget. He noted that digitisation has improved verification, investigation and prosecution activities, leading to asset recoveries both within Nigeria and abroad, including in London, and reaffirmed the bureau’s commitment to the anti‑corruption fight.
