Niger's HACP convenes dialogue in Tibiri to curb agropastoral resource conflicts

On 5 August 2026, the Haute Autorité à la Consolidation de la Paix (HACP) organized a community meeting in Tibiri, Maradi region, to address conflicts over shared agricultural and pastoral resources. The session brought together local officials—including General‑de‑Brigade Amadou Diddili, the governor of Maradi, the regional police chief, the Sultan of Gobir‑Maradi, and the prefect of Guidan Roumdji—along with farmers, herders, women and youth representatives.

The dialogue focused on preventing and managing disputes over land, water points and transhumance corridors, emphasizing early‑stage mediation and traditional conflict‑resolution mechanisms. HACP’s leadership relayed greetings from President Abdourahamane Tiani, underscoring the national importance of local peace initiatives and the need for sustainable, community‑driven solutions in the Sahel.
