Nightwish announces 30th anniversary collection and new album plans

Symphonic metal band Nightwish is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the release of a retrospective collection titled ‘The Greatest 30 Years On Earth’. Scheduled for release on December 11 via Nuclear Blast Records, the collection will feature rare audio and visual recordings from various eras, including live performances from Amsterdam and Kitee, as well as a documentary focused on founder Tuomas Holopainen.

In addition to the anniversary release, Holopainen has revealed significant upcoming musical projects. He is currently finalizing a solo album, which is expected to be ready by spring 2027 following orchestral recordings in London.

Regarding the band’s future, Holopainen stated that seven songs have already been written for Nightwish’s eleventh studio album. The group is scheduled to enter the studio in May 2027. Holopainen noted that the current hiatus from touring has been beneficial for the creative process, stating that songs are coming ‘more than ever before’.
