Nightwish announces 30th anniversary retrospective release

Symphonic metal pioneers Nightwish have announced a major retrospective release titled ‘THE GREATEST 30 YEARS ON EARTH’ to celebrate three decades of music. Scheduled for release on December 11, 2026, via Nuclear Blast Records, the collection is described as an ambitious look at the band’s historical career.

The release will feature audio and video recordings from two distinct recent eras: an arena performance in Amsterdam from 2022 and a homecoming concert in Kitee from 2023. Additionally, it includes exclusive ‘live in the studio’ audio from the band’s virtual live events, all remastered at Finnvox Studios.

Accompanying the audio is a comprehensive collection of photographs spanning 30 years of touring and studio work. The project also features a new documentary directed by Ville Lipiäinen, which focuses on founder and primary songwriter Tuomas Holopainen, exploring his creative process and the band’s conceptual evolution.
