NIGICHA launches new seasonal ohagi sweets in collaboration with Kiri
NIGICHA, a matcha and onigiri cafe operated by NIGIRI, is launching two new seasonal autumn sweets at its Shinjuku Gyoenmae location. The products, part of the second 'OniKiri' collaboration with Bell Japon's Kiri brand, are designed to look like onigiri but are actually 'onigiri-style ohagi' (sweet rice balls).
Available from September 15 to October 31, 2026, the two new varieties are:
• Matcha An Onikiri: A matcha bean paste ohagi featuring Shizuoka tea leaves, paired with Kiri cream cheese and topped with genmaicha powder and gold leaf. Price: 480 yen.
• Chestnut Kinton Onikiri: A chestnut paste ohagi paired with Kiri cream cheese, featuring chestnut preserves and gold leaf. Price: 530 yen.
Both items are made using 100% 'Dewano-mochi' glutinous rice from Shonai, Yamagata Prefecture, to provide a characteristic chewy texture. The products are individually wrapped and intended to be enjoyed alongside Japanese tea or matcha lattes.
