Nigrán kicks off San Fiz week with film screening, chamber concerts and nightly fairs

The municipality of Nigrán will open its San Fiz festivities on Tuesday, 28 July, with a 22:30 screening of the locally produced film “San Simón” in the Plaza del Concello. Directed by Miguel Ángel Delgado, the movie stars 60 Nigrán residents as extras and recounts the island’s history as a notorious Franco‑era prison.

On Thursday, 30 July, a chamber‑music concert will be held at the Church of Ceán, featuring soprano Indra Sesti, violoncellist Rebeca Núñez and clarinetist David Piñeiro performing works by Vivaldi, Handel, Albéniz and Gerónimo Giménez. Later that evening, the group The Tremenders will present a soul‑music concert in the town square.

Friday and Saturday night will see traditional verbena events at the Ceán tower, with D’Líder and Ritmo entertaining on Friday and the Orquesta Compostela closing Saturday’s celebrations. On 1 August, the Val Miñor band will perform a concert in the Plaza del Concello before moving to Ceán for the religious ceremony, where the Coral Novos Aires will sing during the Mass and the band will resume playing after the procession, while locals enjoy the customary octopus dish.
