Nigrán opens registration for Ribeira Sacra hiking route

The Nigrán City Council is opening online registration this Monday, October 26, for a hiking excursion through the Ribeira Sacra region. The activity is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, and follows a 14-kilometer route along the Mao River walkways in San Lourenzo de Barxacova, Parada de Sil.

The hike is classified as high difficulty and is intended for individuals in good physical condition, with an estimated duration of six hours. Participants will depart from the Nigrán City Hall at 8:30 and are expected to return around 20:00. The cost is 13.62 euros, which covers the activity while the council provides transportation and two guides.

The route features a mix of straight paths and stairs through the steep canyon carved by the Mao River before it meets the Sil River. The excursion includes environmental interpretation to help participants learn about the local flora and fauna.
