Nigrán to spend 400,000 euros on Panxón heritage preservation
The Nigrán City Council has reached an agreement to purchase a 1,273 m2 plot of land in Panxón for 400,000 euros. The acquisition aims to preserve and enhance the surrounding area of two significant heritage sites: the Votive Temple, designed by architect Antonio Palacios, and a Visigothic arch dating from the 6th or 7th century.
The purchase includes a 77 m2 traditional house built in 1890. Mayor Juan González stated that the council intends to rehabilitate the building for public use, potentially serving as a tourism office, a fishing museum, or a site to house the recovered Roman mosaic of Panxón.
As part of the project, unlicensed sheds on the property will be demolished and the perimeter wall removed to integrate the historic sites into a green space. The funding for the acquisition was approved during an ordinary plenary session on October 6, despite opposition from the PP and abstention from the BNG.
